Journey Artificer Wobble (The Mountain’s Core)
Consolidated Character Document — Merge of “Chains Cha Wobble” Docs 1, 2, and 3
How to Read This Document
Chains Cha Wobble 1 is the master. Its content forms the spine of every section below and is presented first, unchanged. Material that exists only in Doc 2 or Doc 3 has been folded in where it belongs. Where a source contradicts the master, the master reading stays in the body text and the conflicting reading is preserved in a shaded VARIANT box (or a comparison table) directly beneath it, so nothing is lost and you can resolve each conflict by hand.
Per your instructions, the only edits permitted are to proper names for people, places, and things, normalized to the master’s Basque naming system. Everything else is carried over as written. For Wobble, no name substitutions were actually required: Doc 3 uses no English surnames, and the one place-name difference (Thunderstone Mountains vs. the Cold Peaks) is a different name rather than a translation of the same one, so it is preserved and flagged. A full list of open inconsistencies appears in Section XI: Editor’s Notes at the end.
KEY — Source key
Master (Doc 1) — full character sheet with Basque naming (dwarven style), 3 Chains, and 4-Act Hero’s Journey.
Doc 2 — condensed summary card; consistent with the master apart from how the flaws are labeled.
Doc 3 — prose backstory (“Wobble: A Backstory to Deepen Emotional Stakes and Interpersonal Dynamics”); contributes the exile narrative, her relationship with gnomes and dwarves, the Waterburrow core, the Rivet relationship, and an alternate climax. Contains the most conflicts with the master.

III. Background & History
The master carries Wobble’s history inside the 3 Chains (Section VII) and the Hero’s Journey (Section VIII). The narrative below is Doc 3’s backstory, preserved as written. Conflicts with the master are flagged beneath it.
The Exile of Wobble (Doc 3)
Wobble was born into the Stormhollow Forge, a prestigious dwarven enclave nestled deep within the jagged cliffs of the Thunderstone Mountains. The Stormhollow dwarves were known for their unmatched craftsmanship, forging intricate weapons and tools. However, Wobble was different from her peers. She wasn’t interested in perfecting the strength of a blade or the durability of armor; she was fascinated by intricate mechanisms—gears, levers, and the fusion of machinery with enchantments and alchemy.
Her obsession with invention and unorthodox methods made her an outsider in the tightly-knit, tradition-bound, dwarven community. Dwarves of the forge considered her creations frivolous or downright dangerous, especially when she started experimenting with crystalline energy and arcane circuits. Wobble’s most incredible creation—a self-powered clockwork automaton meant to aid in mining—malfunctioned during its unveiling. The automaton collapsed a mine shaft, causing several injuries and nearly sparking a feud with a neighboring dwarven clan.
Blamed for the disaster, Wobble was cast out of Stormhollow, labeled a reckless dreamer who endangered her kin. She wandered for years, searching for a place where her talents would be valued. Her journey eventually brought her to gnome-controlled territories, where her ingenuity was met not with scorn but with admiration. Gnomes shared her love of invention, though their methods often leaned toward whimsy, whereas hers sought precision. Over time, Wobble came to see the gnomes as her chosen family, but she couldn’t shake the shadow of her exile.
Wobble’s Connection to the Kobold Conflict (Doc 3)
During her travels before joining the Oceanport County Militia, Wobble lived in Waterburrow for a time. Here, she built her first truly successful invention: an energy-stabilizing core designed to power the town’s defense systems. The technology integrated crystalline power with gnomish ingenuity, creating an impenetrable barrier against kobold raids.
However, when the kobolds attacked Waterburrow, they overran the defenses and corrupted her stabilizing core. Wobble blames herself for the town’s downfall, believing that her invention was either flawed or too easily hijacked. The shame of this failure drives her to seek redemption. She’s haunted by the lives lost in Waterburrow and the possibility that her technology is now being used to enslave and harm others.
Master-Source Backstory Facts (from Doc 1)
Izar-Bitxi is a disgraced clan line that sought to blend stars with stone.
Her dwarven peers mocked her because her mechanical cores were “unstable”; she was exiled from Stormhollow and believes she was cast out as a failure.
She believes her energy-stabilizing core failed at Waterburrow and led to its destruction; Waterburrow is “the site of her greatest engineering failure.”
Her runic locks are on the Silverbrook gates, now corrupted and weeping green decay.
The enemy has mastered her runic algorithms; her corrupted defense core powers the enemy’s slave mines.
The Jendea are her surrogate family.
VARIANT — Conflicts and gaps between Doc 3 background and the master
Cause of exile: Doc 3 = a mining automaton that collapsed a shaft, injured several, and nearly caused a clan feud. Master = only that her cores were mocked as “unstable” and she was cast out as a failure; the clan line itself is described as already disgraced. Not contradictory, but the master’s “disgraced clan line” has no counterpart in Doc 3, where the disgrace is hers alone.
What failed at Waterburrow: Master Chain 2 = her energy-stabilizing core; master Act 1 = her runic locks on the Silverbrook gates; Doc 2 = her defense locks; Doc 3 = the stabilizing core powering the town’s defense systems. Core and locks may be one system or two.
Timeline: Doc 3 has her wander for years, then live in Waterburrow, then join the militia. Waterburrow fell 15 years ago per Gimbal’s master sheet; at age 45 that puts her there at 30 or younger, after an exile and years of wandering.

IV. Relationship with Gnomes and Dwarves
From Doc 3. Additive to the master; the master’s only statement on the subject is that the Jendea are her surrogate family and that she wears “Wobble” as a badge of pride among them.
With Gnomes
Wobble has found acceptance and camaraderie among gnomes, particularly their inventors and engineers. While she admires their creativity, she sometimes feels out of sync with their more chaotic, trial-and-error approach to invention. This occasionally makes her seem overly serious or stern compared to her gnomish peers.
Her bond with gnomes is strongest with individuals who value precision and dedication, like Rivet. She appreciates his ability to focus under pressure, which contrasts with the playful chaos of most gnomes.
With Dwarves
Wobble harbors a complicated relationship with her dwarven heritage. She respects dwarven traditions but feels bitter about the rigidity that led to her exile. She struggles with feelings of inadequacy when comparing herself to her kin and hesitates to revisit the Thunderstone Mountains.
Despite her bitterness, Wobble misses the sense of belonging she once felt in Stormhollow and secretly hopes to prove her worth to her people one day.

V. Mount & Empathetic Canine Companions
Companions’ Names: Stormsurge & Vespersong (St. Bernards)
Breed & Physical Markings: Two massive, shaggy St. Bernards; thick white-and-orange coats, broad ink-black faces, and heavy, drooling jowls.
Tactical Armor & Gear: Fitted with heavy, oil-skin saddlebags packed with delicate alchemical vials, spare brass gears, and custom runic tools. They wear padded leather vests reinforced with green earth-gem weave.
Empathetic Mirroring: Her twin companions represent her divided mind. Stormsurge is loud, protective, and pacing, mirroring Wobble’s defensive, bitter anger at her exile. Vespersong is silent, watchful, and heavy-headed, pressing her chin against Wobble’s boots to mirror Wobble’s deep, paralyzing self-doubt and guilt over her past engineering failures.
Doc 2 summary: Stormsurge & Vespersong (St. Bernards). (Consistent with master.)
VARIANT — Note
Doc 3 never mentions the dogs. Unlike Gimbal’s and Rivet’s sheets, the master gives no fate for Stormsurge or Vespersong in the Hero’s Journey.

VI. Flintlock-Fantasy Weaponry & Gear Limitations
Signature Weapon 1 (Primary): The Tempest Puffer
Gemstone & Runic Focus: Green Earth Crystal combined with an Air-gem pod launcher.
Mechanical Drawbacks: Huge, unwieldy weight; the launcher requires Wobble to manually pump a brass compression lever 3-4 times before every shot to build pneumatic pressure.
Capacity & Overheating: Holds exactly 10 alchemical pods (concussive, flash, “itchy gas”, or sticky fire). If the air pressure seals blow from over-pumping, the launcher back-vents a cloud of foul, concussive “itchy gas” directly into Wobble’s eyes.
Signature Weapon 2 (Melee / Sidearm): Multi-Function Tinker’s Wrench
Gemstone & Runic Focus: A small, unpolished Orange heat-gem embedded in the grip.
Overheating State: Used to turn hot brass fittings or break kobold skulls. If the heat-gem runs too hot, the wrench handle glows red-hot, forcing her to drop her primary tool.
Utility & Defensive Kit
Seismic tracking boots
Clockwork repair spiderlings (small, brass-and-gem-wound gears that scurry to seal pipe leaks)
Volatile alchemical flash-vials
Telepathy communication earring, paired with Gimbal and Rivet (listed in Gimbal’s master sheet)
Doc 2 summary: The Tempest Puffer (Earth crystal; pneumatic alchemical pod launcher); Multi-Function Tinker’s Wrench. (Consistent with master.)
Notable Creations (Doc 3)
A self-powered clockwork automaton meant to aid in mining; malfunctioned at its unveiling and collapsed a mine shaft (the cause of her exile).
The Waterburrow energy-stabilizing core, her first truly successful invention, integrating crystalline power with gnomish ingenuity to power the town’s defense systems; later corrupted by the kobolds.

VII. Psychological Crucibles: The 3 Chains (Flaws)

  1. The Chain of Repression (The Past)

Wobble hides her bitter, agonizing shame over her exile from Stormhollow behind a defensive shield of harsh, biting cynicism and intellectual superiority. She treats everyone as “uneducated amateurs” to prevent them from realizing she was cast out as a failure.

  1. The Chain of Toxic Hyper-Responsibility (The Present)

Haunted by the belief that her energy-stabilizing core failed at Waterburrow and led to its destruction, she refuses to let anyone assist her with her machinery. She works until her fingers bleed, refusing to trust the Jendea scouts with her designs because she believes her hands are destined to bring ruin to those she loves.

  1. The Chain of Survivor’s Guilt (The Future)

Wobble carries a crippling, silent belief that she is a fraud. She is convinced her engineering mind is fundamentally broken, driving her to take suicidal risks during combat repairs, hoping a catastrophic core explosion will end her shame and save her surrogate Jendea family.
Doc 2 — Crucible & Flaws (as labeled there)
Exile’s Remorse: Bitter over being cast out of Stormhollow Forge; haunted by the belief that her defense locks enabled the ruin of Waterburrow.
Insecurity: Struggles with feelings of inadequacy and a need for absolute control.
Path to Redemption: Overcomes her rigid pride by embracing gnomish adaptability, trusting others, and ultimately letting go of her need for control to save Solim.
VARIANT — Labeling difference
Doc 2 merges the master’s Repression and Hyper-Responsibility chains into “Exile’s Remorse,” renders Survivor’s Guilt as “Insecurity,” and adds a resolution line. Doc 2 says defense locks; the master’s Chain 2 says energy-stabilizing core. The master’s death-wish element (hoping a core explosion will end her shame) has no counterpart in Doc 2 or Doc 3.

VIII. Character Arc
A. The 4-Act Hero’s Journey Mapping (The Crucible of Suffering) — Master
Act 1: Trouble (Shattering the Armor)
The External Trigger: Being drafted to Waterburrow forces Wobble to return to the site of her greatest engineering failure, cracking her defensive wall of professional superiority.
Cracking the Shell: Seeing her own runic locks corrupted and weeping green decay on the Silverbrook gates forces her to face the physical, monstrous reality of her mistakes.
Act 1 Dark Night of the Soul (Nightmare / Panic): During the violent coastal storm, Wobble is forced to admit to herself that she cannot stabilize her own alchemical heater, her hands trembling as she realizes the enemy has completely mastered her runic algorithms.
Act 2: Plans Backfire (The Failure of Strategy)
The Illusion of Control: Believing her alchemical formulations are perfect, Wobble designs a highly volatile concussive flash-pod to completely blind the armored ogre, ignoring Jendea tactical suggestions.
The Unraveling: The ogre’s earthed, runic armor absorbs the concussive force instantly, bypassing her alchemical trap.
Act 2 Dark Night of the Soul (The Catastrophe): Rivet’s leg is crushed in the aftermath of her plan’s failure. Overwhelmed by the agonizing realization that her “brilliance” has crippled her closest friend, Wobble collapses in a state of silent, trembling self-loathing in the dark cellar.
Act 3: Everything Seems Hopeless (The Abyss & Rebirth)
The Desolate Isolation: Left behind in the dark, damp cellar to tend to the dying, infected Rivet while Gimbal vanishes into the dark, Wobble is stripped of her workshops, her drafting tools, and her confidence.
The Ultimate Price (Shattering the Core): Wobble must face her own creations turned against her—using her own corrupted defense core to power the enemy’s slave mines, stripping her of her identity as a creator.
Act 3 Dark Night of the Soul (The Nadir): As Rivet lies weeping and crippled beside her, Wobble drops her defensive cynicism completely, weeping as she admits her fear of failing again. When Rivet trusts her anyway, her spirit is reborn. She realizes her precision must be paired with gnomish adaptive chaos.
Act 4: Victory Against All Odds (The Let Go)
Reforged Standing: Wobble emerges from the cellar as a unified artificer, her rigid dwarven pride replaced with a beautiful, creative adaptability.
Trusting the Allies: She coordinates a joint strike with the militia, letting the scouts cover her flanks while she focuses entirely on her tools, trusting their weapons to protect her.
Act 4 Dark Night of the Soul / Climactic Release: Standing before the superheating, collapsing dual-gem core of the drilling machine, Wobble must make the ultimate sacrifice of control: she must step back, hand her recalibration tools to Gimbal’s sister Linnaea, and trust the Jendea kinswoman’s agency to seal the core, letting go of her need to personally repair every mistake.
MASTER CHECK — Cross-sheet checks against Gimbal’s and Rivet’s master sheets
Act 2 blame: Wobble’s master = Rivet’s leg is crushed “in the aftermath of her plan’s failure” and she blames her brilliance. Gimbal’s master = Gimbal blames his split-force maneuver. Rivet’s master = Rivet blames his own exposed position. All three carry the guilt for the same event; compatible, but worth deciding whose plan it was on the page.
Act 3 confession: Wobble’s master = she confesses her fear of failing and Rivet trusts her. Rivet’s master = Rivet confesses his inadequacy to Wobble and she encourages him. Mirror-image versions of the same cellar scene.
Act 4 climax: Wobble’s master = she hands her tools to Linnaea, who seals the core. Gimbal’s master = Linnaea sacrifices her life force to seal the core. Rivet’s master = he holds the line against Skyfangs while scoping the drill’s weak points for Wobble. Compatible.
Rivet’s condition in Act 3: “dying, infected” here; “green corruption eats his flesh” in Rivet’s master. Consistent.

B. Emotional Stakes in the Climax — Doc 3
Doc 3’s alternate climax, preserved as written. It keeps the corrupted core but has Wobble recalibrate it herself with Rivet covering her, rather than handing her tools to Linnaea.
In the climax, the team uncovers the kobolds’ corrupted technology at the heart of their operations. Among the twisted devices is Wobble’s stabilizing core, now warped into a weapon used to enslave gnomes and fuel Dreadthorn’s growing power. Seeing her invention used for such destruction devastates Wobble, and she initially freezes, overwhelmed by guilt and self-loathing.
Rivet plays a crucial role here. His ability to see past her guilt and remind her of her worth gives Wobble the push she needs to act. Together, they devise a plan to disable the corrupted core. While Rivet provides cover fire, Wobble works to recalibrate the core’s energy output, knowing the process could cause it to self-destruct.
As Wobble races to complete the task, Rivet risks his life to protect her from an advancing kobold force. Their partnership reaches its emotional peak when Rivet is injured while defending her, and Wobble refuses to leave his side even as the core threatens to explode. This moment crystallizes their bond, blending trust, sacrifice, and the possibility of a future together.
How Wobble’s Arc Deepens the Story (Doc 3)
Personal Redemption: Wobble’s journey from exile to hero mirrors the broader themes of reclaiming lost dignity and confronting the past. Her triumph over the corrupted core symbolizes her growth and acceptance of her flaws.
Strengthened Team Dynamics: Wobble and Rivet’s evolving relationship adds emotional stakes and tension to the story, especially as they move from rivalry to trust to potential romance.
Cultural Reconciliation: Wobble’s arc bridges the gap between gnomish creativity and dwarven precision, reflecting the potential for unity and understanding between different races.
Foreshadowing Future Conflict: Wobble’s victory sets up a potential subplot in future acts: returning to Stormhollow to either reconcile with her people or confront lingering tensions.
VARIANT — Conflicts between the Doc 3 climax and the master
Who seals the core: Master = Wobble steps back and hands her tools to Linnaea (the “let go” beat). Doc 3 = Wobble recalibrates the core herself while Rivet covers her. The master’s entire Act 4 lesson (surrendering control) is inverted in Doc 3.
Rivet’s injury: Doc 3 = Rivet is injured during the climax while defending her from kobolds. Master (all three sheets) = Rivet’s leg is crushed in Act 2 by the ogre, and he fights the climax from a wheeled saddle harness.
Antagonists: Doc 3 = kobolds and Dreadthorn. Master = the armored ogre, the drilling machine, and (per Rivet’s sheet) Skyfangs; kobolds are the named destroyers of Waterburrow but Dreadthorn does not appear.
Romance: Doc 3 = “potential romance” and “the possibility of a future together.” Master = “profound, protective tenderness” and “silent, protective affection” (Rivet’s sheet). Same direction, different explicitness.
Linnaea: central to the master’s climax; absent from Doc 3.

IX. Relationships, Narrative Foils & Squad Dynamics
Rivet (the Sarcastic Sharpshooter)
Master: Her bickering rivalry with Rivet serves as the emotional heart of the squad, moving from hostile defensiveness to a profound, protective tenderness that anchors both of their broken souls. He is her “closest friend” (Act 2); she tends him in the cellar and is reborn when he trusts her anyway (Act 3).
Doc 3 — Connection to Rivet: Wobble and Rivet’s relationship begins as a friendly rivalry. Rivet’s playful banter and sharp shooting often clash with Wobble’s meticulous, no-nonsense attitude. While Rivet teases her about being “too dwarfy” for the gnomes, Wobble jabs back about his occasional recklessness, especially when it endangers her carefully crafted gadgets.
Over time, their bickering gives way to mutual respect. Rivet recognizes the brilliance behind Wobble’s inventions, while Wobble admires his unwavering loyalty and his ability to find levity even in dire situations. She sees in him the courage and drive she often lacks when faced with her own failures.
Their bond deepens when Wobble shares her guilt over Waterburrow’s fall, and Rivet opens up about the tragedy of Fogscale Hold. This shared sense of loss forms the foundation of their growing affection.
Cross-reference (Rivet’s master sheet): The rivalry is quoted there as “too dwarfy” vs. “too reckless,” matching Doc 3’s wording.
Gimbal (the Rigid Cavalry Leader) — Master only
Wobble’s chaotic, experimental alchemical methods and blunt, stubborn nature are a constant, explosive foil to Gimbal’s by-the-book tactical precision. In Act 4 (per Gimbal’s sheet) he steps back and lets her engineering expertise breach the chamber.
Linnaea (Gimbal’s sister) — Master only
The Jendea kinswoman to whom Wobble hands her recalibration tools at the drilling machine’s core in Act 4.
The Stormhollow dwarves / her kin
Master: Her dwarven peers mocked her cores as “unstable”; she was exiled and hides her shame behind cynicism.
Doc 3: Cast her out as a reckless dreamer after the automaton disaster. She respects their traditions, resents their rigidity, feels inadequate beside them, misses belonging, and secretly hopes to prove her worth to them one day. A neighboring dwarven clan was nearly drawn into a feud by the accident.
Dreadthorn (antagonist) — Doc 3 only
Her warped stabilizing core is used to enslave gnomes and fuel Dreadthorn’s growing power.
Stormsurge & Vespersong
See Section V.

XI. Editor’s Notes
Name Normalizations Applied
None were needed. Doc 3 uses no English surnames for Wobble, Rivet, or Gimbal, and its place names either match the master (Stormhollow Forge, Waterburrow, Oceanport County Militia) or are a different name rather than a variant spelling (Thunderstone Mountains vs. the Cold Peaks), which is preserved and flagged below rather than replaced.
Open Inconsistencies for Manual Resolution
