Dating Follows the Timeline

The rule

All dating follows the timeline. It is canon and trumps every other dating system, wherever one appears.

Exceptions

None.

Why it matters to the story

One source of truth keeps every story consistent.

Notes

How dates are written

  • In-story dates are age-relative: "Year 670 of the Age of Redemption," or "Year 212, Red." Most people live their whole life within one Age, so this is the usual form.
  • Absolute years (1 to 4239) appear only in long-term legal documents, such as some contracts and trade agreements, because the math is easier.
  • Prose keeps scale clear: "the Age of Redemption" means the Age, and "the Redemption months" means the phase of the year.
