Ogres

Flesh-and-blood creatures with minimal intelligence (ogres and trolls)

Ogres and trolls serve as the brute enforcers of the kobold war machine, towering monstrosities of muscle and crude cunning. They are intelligent enough to follow simple orders and to speak in broken sentences, but their lack of higher reasoning makes them easy for sharper minds to manipulate. They have no written language, no concept of craftsmanship, and no use for Landfolk gear, which is far too small for them to wield. In battle they rely on brute force and natural durability.

Physical Traits

  • Height: 9–11 feet (2.7–3.4 meters)
  • Weight: 800–1,200 lbs (362–544 kg)
  • Skin color: Dull gray to sickly yellow-green
  • Eyes: Small and beady, usually brown or black
  • Distinctions: Heavy, hunched frames with massive arms and disproportionately small heads

Behavior and Society

  • Ogres are scavengers and bullies who often feast on the leftovers of more intelligent creatures.
  • They are not entirely solitary but prefer loose, roaming bands to structured societies.
  • Their loyalty is dictated by strength. Whoever beats them into submission is their leader.
  • They enjoy crude entertainment, such as brawling or watching creatures suffer.

Combat Abilities

  • Preferred weapons: Tree trunks, massive clubs, stone hammers, or even their enemies’ bodies.
  • Fighting style: Overwhelming strength, charging at foes, grappling, and throwing.
  • Strengths: Immense durability, high pain tolerance, and devastating melee attacks.
  • Weaknesses: Slow reflexes, dimwitted tactics, and vulnerability to precise, calculated strikes.

Buffs and Unique Traits

  • Thick hide: Ogre skin naturally resists piercing weapons, which makes arrows and small blades ineffective.
  • Fearsome roar: A deep, bellowing roar that can shake the morale of lesser foes.
  • Berserker fury: When wounded, an ogre may enter a blind rage that increases its attack power but leaves it vulnerable to counters.
